Mahabalipuram or Mamallapuram became the capital of Pallava rulers after Kanchipuram. Unlike the other shrines in Tamil Nadu, the sculpture of Mahabalipuram depicts scenes from day-to-day life, instead of the carvings of Gods and Goddesses.
Day 01 : Arrive Chennai * On to Mahabalipuram ( approx 60kms / approx 2 hrs )
Welcome to Chennai, on arrival at the Chennai airport or Chennai railway station, begin your tour of 'Majestic Mahabalipuram'. On arrival, check into your hotel. Rest of the day is at leisure on own. Overnight in hotel.
Day 02 : In Mahabalipuram
Today morning visit the famous Shore Temple, Five Rathas and Arjun Penance. The Sore temple has gained popularity and tourists gather here because it has been listed among the world heritage sites of the UNESCO. The temple is full of designs made by carvings. The Rathas have an association to the great epic Mahabharata which describes the heroes of Mahabharata with their wife Draupadi. The Arjuna Penance is a wonderful portrayal of Art which depicts Gods , Demi Gods, birds , animal and forests forming the background of the Mahabharat stories. The rest of the day is free to relax or explore the local markets on your own.Overnight in hotel.
Day 03 : Depart Chennai * Return home with happy memories
Today, bid farewell to your 'My Majestic Mahabalipuram' tour, as you are transferred to Chennai airport / railway station for your onward journey.
